Camp Unirondack's goal is to tirelessly work to give campers a place to feel universally accepted and celebrated for their unique personhood.
Unirondack is a place where young people are encouraged to to let their inner selves come alive. They do this through direct conversation and community norms that raise up and empower traditionally underrepresented voices. Unirondack's camp leadership believes in holding themselves accountable for mistakes and being able to do so in a place that still makes room for those who make mistakes to grow and learn ... and that includes themselves. The camp is queer-friendly, body positive, unapologetically feminist, fueled by compassion and hopeful for a better world that starts at Unirondack and carries far beyond the walls of their buildings and benches of our their campfire circles. If self-exploration and learning sound like values that you’d like to see paired inseparably with laughing until your knees give out and crying through tears of joy, come see what Camp Unirondack is all about. If you are looking for the quintessential "good camp," Unirondack is it. They offer classic traditional camp activities like canoeing, rock climbing, arts and crafts, theater, and cooking while combining it with social discussions, fantasy exploration, and imagination-based fun. The program is especially versed in LGBTQ, Queer, and Trans literacy and programming. While not being an exclusively LGBTQ space, Camp Unirondack is a queer-led organization that understands the values and virtues of creating a space of love!
Young artists ages 7-18 come from all over North and South America, Europe, and Asia to spend 2-7 weeks at Camp Ballibay's pristine mountaintop campus.
Established in 1964, the camp has a long history as a diverse, tolerant, and safe camp for creative kids. Since 2011 the program has been rated among the #1-rated arts camps in North America.
Each camp currently maintains a full-page listing on our site with photos, videos, program descriptions and more.
